Aegis Offers COTA Training

  • CNA

We are looking for candidates for our next class. If you’re interested or know someone who would be a strong candidate for this program, we’d love to hear from you. We are partnering with Concorde Career Colleges Inc. to offer qualified students the opportunity to earn a degree and become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at no cost.

About the Program

The COTA program is a 20-month course of study that begins in December 2014 and results in a three-year employment assignment with Aegis Therapies for Golden Living’s program graduates. The first five months of study will be completed online; the remaining coursework will be done at the training center in Fresno, Calif. Students will be required to live near the Fresno training center during this portion of the program and may need to temporarily relocate.

Twelve students will be accepted into the program. The class will be a combination of Golden Living employees and external candidates. Our new Occupational Therapy Assistant degree program helps us meet our staffing needs, as well as the needs of our patients by providing us qualified individuals who have been trained in our advanced clinical approach and standards.

The COTA program is structured for people who currently have a career in healthcare but are seeking to advance their skills or would like to move into transitional care/short-term rehabilitation from other fields.

The Application Process

Interested candidates should email Jennifer McClelland at jmcclelland2@concorde.eduby Monday, June 30, to begin the process. Qualified candidates will:

  1. Hi this is Joana Amador I am a high school student. I midtermed in December 2014, and I’m going back to graduate in May 2015.
I’m doing my CNA classes in May of 2015.
Right now I am working for Golden LivingCenter in Nebraska City, Neb. in Housekeeping. I am so exited to start my CNA and start taking action.
All the CNAs in Golden Living are great workers. I’ve seen how the work in Golden Living been for the CNAs. They work hard and like how they do their job. I know that all I do is clean for the patients, but working in Golden Living and making sure everything is in good conditions and specially keeping the patience happy and making sure everything is clean just makes my whole day.
Having a small job teaches me opportunities, and I really want to take action on becoming a COTA.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
